But a good man get hurts easily, especially a focused one.
When you say something horrible to a jerk, or when you decide to walk away from a jerk, he will just go find someone else, someone just as interchangeable as you, to spend time with, to do whatever they want together, without treating your criticisms or comments seriously. After some time, when the jerk is tired of the replacement, or several of other replacements, he may try contacting you again. You, on the other hand, have decided to ignore(or pretend to forget?) the bad memories that the jerk have brought you. You decide to talk to him again.
Without any surprise, the jerk hurts you again.. OUCH... he doesn't just hurt you, but even comes up with an explanation of why he hurts you again, a reason that only the jerks of the Jerkland can truly understand, and that hurts the good man even more.

Good person tend to project their nature of goodness to whoever they're fond of. A lot of times, they simply blind themselves as to let the so-called jerks hurt them time after time.
Once again, good guy survives, but barely, thanks to good fortune. Nevertheless, good fortune might run short some time. What if good guy got hurt so deep and had no chance at all to recover? Still want to play good guy and let those who are sure to have you at their mercy come back more horrible memory on you again?
There is only one very thin line between cynical and critical. After getting hurt by jerks, one doesn't have to turn oneself into jerk as to get even with those diehard jerks. But it would be totally alright for good person to dislike, or even hate those jerks who once and again abuse the good guy's good will.
Even more importantly, the good guys should get smart and learn to guard themselves from falling prey to those jerks' merciless hands.
For good person to be good, it is not neccessary to become cynical with human nature and hesitate to love again. However, that does not mean good persons should always be fool condemned to be at the jerks' mercy ever and forever. No doubt, good guys are never left without good means at their disposal. The key point is for them to have good heart for those who return our good will in positive ways, yet keep critical eyes on those good-for-nothing jerks. Just keep them out of sight, if you are not able to keep them out of mind. And the further, the better!
