"A movie is not a movie if it's not shown on a gigantic screen with state-of-the-art surrounding sound effects, " says a movie addict, "it would be like watching a soap opera on a b/w TV in a small living room."

Eclipse Cool Ice

I saw this commercial few days ago and I thought the guy was so hot in this commercial. After eating an Eclipse Cool Ice gum, he just became shirtless, revealing his muscular body.
This clip from youtube is, according to the website, from Russia, but the commercial in Taiwan is the same but with Chinese narration and without the ending part where the elavator door opens to other people.

Japanese Noodles (Ramen)

Today I decided to use the 10-dollar coupon for my and DJ's favorite Japanese noodles close to our place. It was miso-based soup with pork. So yummy. DJ would love to have one on such a cold day.

Beef Roll

Originally, I wanted to eat Japanese noodles, ramen, but I didn't want to wait so long before I had dinner after working out so I just stopped at Mother Ho restaurant close to the gym. I like their beef noodles and beef rolls. I had beef roll today, the kind with the roll made with veggie. That's why it looks green. The first phot is the whole beef roll while the second one is when I already ate one slice, in which you can see the meat inside the roll. so yummy!

Sunday Shopping

I went to Eslite bookstore after working out for lunch. I had some sushi and a veggie tofu hot pot at the food court. The food was quite usual, nothing special or amazing.

After lunch, I stayed in the bookstore, reading Neil Gaiman's American Gods in Chinese translation. I was hesitant about buying it, but I eventually bought it, along with the latest TIME magazine, because it's still faster to finish a book in Chinese as long as the translation is good. I sat at a Starbucks, reading the magazine and the fiction for like an hour and half. Before I went home, I stopped at a 3C store, and then I bought some food to eat for dinner. Since I had a late lunch, I felt full very quickly. I still finished eating what I had bought for dinner: a chinese-style hamburger (made with Chinese bun, pork, veggie, sesame powder, etc.) and a soup noodles and boiled vegetables at the noodle stand that DJ likes.

Saturday Meals

I had lunch at the food court in Pacific Sogo Department Store. I ate some sort of Korean-style rice mixed with vegetagles and meat. Well...it didn't taste as good as I had expected. The same type of food would actually taste better in Taoban House, Yuanshao, or even other food courts. You need to mix the vegetables and meat with the rice in a hot stone bowl, and the rice would get a little burnt. Then the flavor will come out nice and good. Yet the rice in this restaurantjust got too blackendly burnt, or not burnt at all, and the other ingredients were not properly mixed with the rice either.

For dinner, I ate at a place I went once in a while close to my place. It's Japanese oolong noodles with some vegetables and small foodstuff stewed in soup, named Guandongzhu. Dj loves this kind of food too. I had to eat alone today though. :( and I felt so full because I picked too much food from the big container. The two small plastic sauces at the bottom of the photo are sauces, one spicy and the other sweet and spicy.

wisdom tooth

My upper left wisdom tooth is probably growing again after a few years, and it's growing alittle bit outward, hurting the side of my mouth. The growing itself hurts already, and it hurts even more when I do the chewing action. When my upper right one was growing, I had the same problem too. I hate wisdom teeth.

Mr. Mark

I suddenly felt like eating bread from Mr. Mark so I took the MRT to Yongchun station to go to the Mr. Mark in that neighborhood. It is located in the middle between Yongchun and City Hall MRT stations so it doesn't matter which station you go to.
Their bread and cake are made with all natural ingredients in the German countryside way (I don't know what that is).
I bought two rye bread, pumpkin cake, and maple syrup cake. They are all delicious.

On my way walking to the bakery, I saw a store with a sign like this (I smudged the phone number):

I don't know if the store is owned by a special person, or it has a very rare niche market.

Dinner at the Zhongxiao Dunhua Underground Mall

After working out this evening, I had dinner at a food stand at the underground mall by Zhongxiao Dunhua MRT station. I had some sort of glutinous rice cake with fish ball soup. I know DJ likes them. They are very yummy.

Happy Birthday DJ !!!

Today is my DJ's birthday. I am wishing him a happy birthday with two photos of cake.
They are cakes from Rivon and they all look delicious. The left one is caramel macchiato, and the right one is coffee. YUM !!!

Beef Noodles

After I finished working out this evening, I really felt like eating the tomato beef noodles that I hadn't had for a long time. So I decided to walk all the way back from the gym to the night market by my place to enjoy this delicacy. Since it was a long way to walk, I also bought a sesame baozi to eat at a baozi store that I had been wanting to try since I started working out in that neighborhood. Unfortunately I swallowed the baozi immediately I bought it so there is no photo here.

The menu in the beef noodles store looks like this:

Shout

The Shout that DJ had bought long time ago was out few weeks ago. I decided to get a new one on Monday night since I thought that there would be stains that my Tide (with bleach) may not be able to remove, and DJ really likes to use Shout. This way DJ will have Shout to use when he comes back from Canada.

Sunday Shopping

What did I do on the first Sunday when DJ is not in Tawan?

I vaccumed the bedroom and did some laundry in the morning, and then I went to the gym.

After I finished my workout around 11:30, I had lunch at the Eslite Xinyi branch. This is what I had for lunch: A Parent-Child on Rice (translated literally from its Japanese name), made of chicken meat and egg on rice.

I vaccumed the living room and watched She's the Man on TV in the afternoon. My friends, Painting Pen and MChang, drove a car to meet me by the McDonald's close to my place. We decided to go the Costco since I wanted to buy something there and they had never been to Costco before and Panting Pen has a car.

I had Costco's usual meal there, a chicken thing and a clam chowder. The portion was fine with me, but both of my friends thought they were too much.
The whole time we were in Costco, I kept telling them the products were cheaper in Costco then other stores. Painting Pen, however, kept saying that it was cheaper to shop at RT Mart or other similar hyper markets. MChang kept saying that the size of the commodities in Costco looked gross and unhandy. Well... I didn't agree with them. Here is what I bought in Costco:

I bought a Tide with bleach because they didn't have the downy one... I was so angry. I bought a Dove shampoo and a Quaker Oatmeal because I thought I wan out of them already and I didn;t want DJ to come home only to find that we don't have shampoo and oatmeanl anymore. Well.. actually we still have some Quaker Oatmeanl left from last time:

I should bring them to work to eat them more often then. I also bought a Dockers t-shirt. Even though it's medium, the sleeves still go all the way to my elbow. I really don't know what's wrong with its scale.

After I came home from Costco, I went out to buy two new shirts from G2000, but one of the shirt didn't come in my size so I have to go back there to pick it up in three days.

DJ going to Canada

Dj is going to Canada in 3 days. DJ will stay there until after the Chinese New Year. It's DJ's birthday next week so we have to celebrate it beforehand.
I will miss DJ a lot during these three weeks. I hope time will pass very very quickly ~~~

New Cell Phone

I just got a new Sony Ericsson phone yesterday along with carrier service contract renewal. The phone would have cost NTD5000 more if I had bought the phone by itself without a service contract tied for 2 years. After trying out my new phone for a day, I feel it is really a wonderful phone.
This is my first phone with camera, mp3 player, handsfree and many other funstions since I always used phones with very basic functions. I feel very excited about this phone. Camera phone has been out for probably 5 or 6 years, or even longer, and I finally got one!
Dj, however, doesn't seem to be happy with my decision to get this phone. He didn't spend money on his current and last cell phones. Lucky for him, but I have to buy phones myself. Maybe he thinks I should save the money for my future dream house or for his birthday.

Fly

A fly just buzzed through the living room. Where the hell did the fly come from? From the the sink? From the emply milk tea cups? From the dead bugs on the glueboard? From the flower pots with rotten leaves and fruit? I don't know.

It rested on the camera for a while and then took off. It rested on the scented candle on the shelf. It buzzed towards the ceiling light and flew away. Sometimes it flew back and stayed motionless on top of the screen. When my hand got close, it flew away again. It just kept spinning around in the air, droning as it flew, messing with my mind.

The fly just appeared out of nowhere. I hope it will be gone by the morning.

2008

well... as the fireworks have been set off and Taipei 101 has been lit with a "Love Taiwan" sign for days since the New Year countdown, it is officially the year of 2008. I hope I can make a lot of money, and translate some best-selling books that rock the literary world in Taiwan. I hope I can travel a lot and see a lot of the world. I hope I can have a body as hot as an underwear model. I hope I can win lottery and buy a decent-size apartment in Taipei City. I hope DJ will have a healthy body that does not get sick and tired so easily. I hope DJ will master Chinese very quickly so that he doesn't have to stay up studying the language so late. I hope... There are so many things that I hope will come true.
