"A movie is not a movie if it's not shown on a gigantic screen with state-of-the-art surrounding sound effects, " says a movie addict, "it would be like watching a soap opera on a b/w TV in a small living room."

宋廚北京烤鴨 + Playing

Le Goût de Paris

Paul - une boulangerie française ( a french bakery)

When I was in Paris few years ago, I went to a bakery called Paul several times to buy something to eat (I guess it tasted good, but I really don't remember now...)

Few weeks ago, I saw a big "PAUL" sign by Ren-ai Roundabout. It immediately reminded me of that French bakery. And it really is.

I went there yesterday to check out the store and found out that it was more than a bakery. It's a restaurant/cafe too, and there were people in line waiting for seats. Well, since I wasn't there to have lunch, I just lined up by the bakery side (you see, another lineup!). I didn't really do any research before going there so I just bought whatever I felt like trying. Two apple pies, one chocolate bread and one heart-shaped cookie(or bread?) cost over NTD300.

There are still other desserts and pastries that I haven't tried there, and I also want to try the restaurant too. I will go there again some time. Well... but maybe not so soon. haha

Moon Festival Day

Well... today is Moon Festival Day, and a typhoon day, too so it was raining all day today.
California Fitness was closed all day today so I couldn't go work out, or attend the Body Combat class taught by the cute and hot instructor. I even found out the time and location of his three classes on Sunday.

I went to the food court at the Xinyi Eslite Bookstore to have lunch. This is a picture of my half-eaten Eelfish on Rice. It's kind of small and not so nutritious, but I don't really care. I had to eat by myself again. That's what I don't like...

After lunch I went to the bookstore (actually I was at the bookstore for some time before lunch already). I picked up PS. I Love You and read a few pages.

Although I had seen the movie and knew the story, I still felt sad from the first few pages. It made me feel like crying, especially the part where they were fighting who should go turn off the bedroom light before bed, and somebody's feet were too cold. I even feel sad as I am writing about this.

I bought the book even though I hadn't finished The History of Love, just so that I can read it later on. Maybe there's more about the story than what the movie can present. Well... I was also thinking about buying the DVD, too, but I didn't. Maybe I will some day.

I didn't have any barbecue for Moon Festival Day, not even a barbecue restaurant for the occasion. Well, I went to a nice sukiyaki restaurant (Momo Paradise) 2 days ago with two college friends. It was very good. Let's just treat it as a tribute to the moon even though the sky had been moody for days. At least I got to have lots of nice beef at the sukiyaki restaurant.

Lean Beef Meal Set Exposed

So I decided to try the Lean Beef Set in California tonight since I wanted to buy some taro cakes and red bean moichi, which is sold in a bakery further north, not on my way home. Even though the name of the set is "lean" beef, I still spotted several fat when they brought the food to me. So much for the lean beef.

Meals at California Fitness

Even though I have been working out at California for a few months, I had never tried their food until yesterday. After finishing jogging and working out my abs around 12:00 yesterday, I decided to venture into this unexplored area. I ordered chicked breat with brown rice. It was quite delicious but I don't think the vegetable was enough. Anyway, today when I finished my second working out around 18:30, I decided to try their salmon. The salmon set was more expensive than the chicken breast set. It tasted not bad too. Well the salade was the same for both sets. They should be more creative.

Japanese Noodles (Ramen)

Today I decided to use the 10-dollar coupon for my and DJ's favorite Japanese noodles close to our place. It was miso-based soup with pork. So yummy. DJ would love to have one on such a cold day.

Beef Roll

Originally, I wanted to eat Japanese noodles, ramen, but I didn't want to wait so long before I had dinner after working out so I just stopped at Mother Ho restaurant close to the gym. I like their beef noodles and beef rolls. I had beef roll today, the kind with the roll made with veggie. That's why it looks green. The first phot is the whole beef roll while the second one is when I already ate one slice, in which you can see the meat inside the roll. so yummy!

Sunday Shopping

I went to Eslite bookstore after working out for lunch. I had some sushi and a veggie tofu hot pot at the food court. The food was quite usual, nothing special or amazing.

After lunch, I stayed in the bookstore, reading Neil Gaiman's American Gods in Chinese translation. I was hesitant about buying it, but I eventually bought it, along with the latest TIME magazine, because it's still faster to finish a book in Chinese as long as the translation is good. I sat at a Starbucks, reading the magazine and the fiction for like an hour and half. Before I went home, I stopped at a 3C store, and then I bought some food to eat for dinner. Since I had a late lunch, I felt full very quickly. I still finished eating what I had bought for dinner: a chinese-style hamburger (made with Chinese bun, pork, veggie, sesame powder, etc.) and a soup noodles and boiled vegetables at the noodle stand that DJ likes.

Saturday Meals

I had lunch at the food court in Pacific Sogo Department Store. I ate some sort of Korean-style rice mixed with vegetagles and meat. Well...it didn't taste as good as I had expected. The same type of food would actually taste better in Taoban House, Yuanshao, or even other food courts. You need to mix the vegetables and meat with the rice in a hot stone bowl, and the rice would get a little burnt. Then the flavor will come out nice and good. Yet the rice in this restaurantjust got too blackendly burnt, or not burnt at all, and the other ingredients were not properly mixed with the rice either.

For dinner, I ate at a place I went once in a while close to my place. It's Japanese oolong noodles with some vegetables and small foodstuff stewed in soup, named Guandongzhu. Dj loves this kind of food too. I had to eat alone today though. :( and I felt so full because I picked too much food from the big container. The two small plastic sauces at the bottom of the photo are sauces, one spicy and the other sweet and spicy.

Dinner at the Zhongxiao Dunhua Underground Mall

After working out this evening, I had dinner at a food stand at the underground mall by Zhongxiao Dunhua MRT station. I had some sort of glutinous rice cake with fish ball soup. I know DJ likes them. They are very yummy.

Happy Birthday DJ !!!

Today is my DJ's birthday. I am wishing him a happy birthday with two photos of cake.
They are cakes from Rivon and they all look delicious. The left one is caramel macchiato, and the right one is coffee. YUM !!!

Beef Noodles

After I finished working out this evening, I really felt like eating the tomato beef noodles that I hadn't had for a long time. So I decided to walk all the way back from the gym to the night market by my place to enjoy this delicacy. Since it was a long way to walk, I also bought a sesame baozi to eat at a baozi store that I had been wanting to try since I started working out in that neighborhood. Unfortunately I swallowed the baozi immediately I bought it so there is no photo here.

The menu in the beef noodles store looks like this:
